Dear Teachers,
A few years ago I wrote a St. Patrick’s Day mystery script where recess equipment goes missing during the class team challenges. From a teaching perspective, it is a great way to practice fluency and reading comprehension.
The FUN part, though, is watching students react as they assume the culprit is a particular classmate but later find out it is someone they never would have guessed! 😮
The twist ending always sparks a great discussion about jumping to conclusions and learning from mistakes.
It’s one of those activities where students
feel like they’re just having fun… but they’re actually doing a lot of meaningful reading work.
